Saturday
Racing Santander (18th) v Atletico Madrid (7th)
Atletico Madrid’s brilliant run of form continues under new coach Diego Simeone and their is little doubt it could end against struggling Racing Santander. The red and whites haven’t conceded a goal in five games and should easily win this one. Result – 2
Osasuna (10th) v Barcelona (2nd)
No win in five games has seen Osasuna’s good start to the season count for little, the side from Pamplona could find themselves dragged into the relegation zone if their not careful. Visitors Barcelona seemed back to their best against Valencia on Wednesday night but it is their dreaded away form that sees them still seven behind Real Madrid. Result – X
Real Betis (16th) v Athletic Bilbao (6th)
Pepe Mel’s side are four games without a win and face an Athletic Bilbao playing some wonderful football, with a place in the Copa del Rey final secured on Wednesday night, coach Marcelo Bielsa will be eager to keep his players level headed for this one. Result – 2
Sunday
Espanyol (5th) v Real Zaragoza (20th)
With the Catalan side unbeaten in five games, it will be extremely hard for a side that are 16 games without a win to come and get some points. Zaragoza are all but preparing themselves for the Segunda next season whilst Espanyol are capable of a Champions League place. Result – 1
Malaga (8th) v Mallorca (14th)
Looking at the current form of these two sides, you can barely seperate them but with the talent Malaga possess, a home win should be predicted. However, with neither side drawing for a long time (Malaga 5 games, Mallorca 7), this has a point each written all over it. Result – X
Rayo Vallecano (12th) v Getafe (10th)
Wow, try and seperate these two. Both are capable of anything in this league, visitors Getafe played well enough against Real Madrid last week to deserve a point whilst Rayo have really impressed this season so far. Not Madrid’s most famous derby, but a cracker in any case. Result – 2
Valencia (3rd) v Sporting Gijon (19th)
This surely has to be the week that Valencia re-find their league form, now with the Copa del Rey put to bed they should and most probably will concentrate on pushing Barcelona for 2nd place. If they don’t against a struggling Sporting Gijon, then Unai Emery may be looking over his shoulder. Result – 1
Villarreal (17th) v Granada (15th)
A change of coach in recent weeks for both sides has done them the world of good, Villarreal have fought themselves out of the bottom three and look back to their best whilst Granada have won their last two games. This one could be tough to call but I am going for a home win. Result – 1
Real Madrid (1st) v Levante (4th)
Go back to September, Levante were top of La Liga and had just beaten Jose Mourinho’s side 1-0 but things are very much different now. The away side are six games without a win and eight without one away from home. Result – 1
Monday
Real Sociedad (13th) v Sevilla (11th)
New coach, Michel has been told his contract with Sevilla will be extended if he guides them to a Champions League place. However, current form suggests that won’t happen. Sociedad gave a good account of themselves against Barcelona last week so this is a tough one to call. Result – X
