Barcelona forward, Leo Messi reportedly approached Real Madrid defender, Alvaro Arbeloa in the Santiago Bernabeu parking lot following the first leg of their 1-1 Copa del Rey semi-final match.

messiarbeloaAccording to Intereconomia’s Punto Pelota, Messi confronted Arbeloa, who was with his wife and daughter in their car, and had several heated words for the Spanish international before the Argentine was led away by a Barcelona employee.

Arbeloa and Messi had several exchanges throughout the match, with both covering their mouths to hide their words from the cameras.

What is likely to have set Messi off and caused the confrontation, is an instance in the match where it appeared that at one point Arbeloa gruffly smacked Messi in the face, which was followed by a tap on the face by Real Madrid defensive midfielder, Xabi Alonso.

Messi also took issue with Alonso, who he refused to shake hands with at the end of the match, which according to the same report, was due to Alonso’s unsportsmanlike conduct throughout the match.
