Two superb goals and an assist for the other, during Real Valladolid’s 3-1 victory against Mallorca last weekend, capped an excellent performance for attacking midfielder, Patrick Ebert.
Enjoying a key role with consistently high quality performances, it’s no surprise that other clubs are already playing close attention to the progress of the 25 year-old German.
Amongst a group of several players who were released by Hertha Berlin, following their relegation from the German top-flight last season, Ebert headed to the the Iberian peninsula for a new challenge with Real Valladolid. Amidst the string of fine performances he and his team have achieved so far this season though, he is keen to stay and has his feet firmly on the ground.
“I’m only thinking about giving my best in each training session and each match, just like the rest of my team-mates. I’m very happy here.” Said Ebert, whilst speaking to journalists after training.
Having grown up as a keen admirer of David Beckham, whilst he was working his way through the youth ranks at Hertha Berlin, he continually trained to emulate the ways that Beckham could strike the ball. Ebert suggested that just like his idol, practice makes perfect. “Of course I can improve. Everyone can do that.”
Focusing on the performance of his team in the first half of the season, he is keen to see more of the same, whilst praising the influence of the coaches.
“I think we had a very good first half to this season. The coaching staff have instilled in us, that we’re not inferior to anyone and we have competed well in every game. Now we just need to keep working the same way.”
