Reports in Spain are that Real Madrid are extremely close to agreeing a deal with Gremio for full-back Mario Fernandes.

Marca.com reports that the 21-year-old is the man chosen by Real coach Jose Mourinho to reniforce the right side of his defence and will arrive at the club in January.

They report that Mourinho has been given the all clear from president Florentino Perez to complete the deal and that an initial agreement with the player’s representatives has been made.

Earlier in the week Gremio director Paulo Pelaipe confirmed offers from Real Madrid and CSKA Moscow, saying : “Real Madrid and CSKA Moscow have made offers for Mario Fernandes in the past couple of days. However, club president Paulo Odone has rejected the bids as they didn’t match our valuation of the player.”

It is now thought a new bid of around 20m euros will be enough to tempt Gremio to release the Brazilian defender.
