According to Sportyou.com, Mourinho took issue with Ronaldo’s lack of defensive prowess during the match, stating that he wasn’t giving his all, as well as taking issue with a throw-in take at the end of the match.
Ronaldo, in turn, responded to the manager’s criticisms but the argument did not escalate.
However, there were signs that both assistant coaches and players, also took issue with Ronaldo’s decision making, as assistant manager, Rui Faria was motioning for the player to come back down the pitch.
Meanwhile right-back, Marcelo could be seen arguing with Ronaldo for not contributing on defense, to which Ronaldo disregarded with a gesture.
Another point of contention for Mourinho was that Ronaldo chose to take a unbalanaced shot, when he had a open pass to striker, Gonzalo Higuain, who in turn had a clear shot on goal.
While the argument was heated, it did not escalate, but witnesses outside the locker room stated that Ronaldo was visablly affected by the exchange.
