According to Valencia-based sports daily, Superdeporte, Fuego, who is allowed to negotiate with other clubs six months prior to his current contract’s expiration date, has agreed to join Valencia this summer on a free transfer, ending a three-year stint in Vallecas.
The 29-year-old has been a stalwart in Rayo’s midfield for several years, and despite the club’s recent success, the defender has opted to sign a three-year contract with Los Che.
This will come as a serious blow to Rayo Vallecano, as they will receive no compensation in transfer fees, and seeing as how they already have one of the smallest budgets in the Primera Division, a replacement, with the level of skill as Fuego, a nearly impossible task.
Fuego joined Rayo from Recreativo ahead of the 2010-2011, where the team gained promotion in his first season with the club.
