villarreal-farinos-javVillarreal have announced that Javier Farinós will be the club’s second signing of the winter transfer window.

The 34-year-old midfielder returns to professional football after a lengthy spell on the side-lines nursing a hip injury. All being well, the versatile midfielder should be available for selection on Saturday – against Barça B.

Farinós, a product of Valencia’s youth set-up, made a combined 120 appearances for Valencia and Valencia B between 1996 and 2000.

The turn of the Millennium saw Farinós move to Italian giants, Internazionale. He spent the best part of 5 years in Italy’s capital, but moved back to Spain in 2003, as Villarreal and then Mallorca (2004-2005) took him on loan. Stints at Hércules and Levante then followed, with the midfielder featuring in 30 of the latter’s games during their infamous 2011/12 season.

With the Spaniard supposedly in great shape, Villarreal will hope he can help the side push for promotion.
