Segunda side, Villarreal are one of the many entities coming after Malaga for unpaid debts, as the Yellow Submarine has filed a formal complaint with UEFA over unpaid payments of €3.5 million stemming from the sale of Santi Cazorla last summer.

The Spanish international was sold to Malaga last summer for a reported fee of €20 million; however, Villarreal has not been paid the final €3.5 million and has finally filed a formal complaint, after several months of threats went unanswered.

Former Malaga director, Fernando Hierro met with Villarreal on April 11th and it was decided that Malaga would pay the amount in two installments, one in April and the other in May.

However, nearly four months have passed and Malaga has yet to pay a single Euro, forcing the Yellow Submarine into action.

This couldn’t come at a worse time for Malaga, who is just now calming the storm after four players reported the club to the Spanish Footballer’s Association (AFE) over wages owed to them to the tune of 40% of their earnings from last season.
